WHAT IS THE LEADERSHIP RESOURCE TEAM (LRT)?

The Leadership Resource Team (LRT) is an organization devoted to improving the University of Georgia (UGA) and Athens-Clarke County by fostering the personal, professional, and civic development of student leaders on campus and in the community.  

The main focus of LRT is to act as a consultant to other UGA student organizations by providing programs on leadership development. As a diverse group of 25 dynamic leaders, LRT members design and facilitate campus presentations, workshops, a state-wide leadership conference, mentoring opportunities, and community service projects to meet the needs of specific populations.  Through active and engaged participation in LRT, students foster skills in:

PERSONAL INTERACTION

  • Connect with other leaders across campus
  • Interact with and appreciate people different than yourself
  • Learn how different personality types contribute to group dynamics
  • Network with respected guest speakers, staff, faculty, & community leaders
  • Create and maintain various networks and relationships

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Coordinate the largest student-run leadership conference in Georgia
  • Enhance public speaking and presentation skills
  • Facilitate team-builders for a group of any size
  • Develop expertise on a variety of leadership topics

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

  • Guide fellow university students in augmenting leadership capacity
  • Mentor local middle school leaders in reaching their potential
  • Engage in worthwhile service projects that target unique and identified community needs
  • Support a culture of positive decision-making for continued reflection

The Leadership Resource Team is divided into 3 committees. As a member of LRT, you will be placed on one of these committees with specific responsibilities.

Campus Programming

  • Coordinate and implement Leadership Success Series (LSS) presentation requests from other student organizations
  • Create and facilitate workshops for the T.O.P. Dog program
  • Design marketing for all LRT programs

Special Events Committee

  • Administer all aspects of the Georgia Collegiate Leadership Conference (GCLC), including marketing materials, keynote speakers, workshop session presenters, registration, and on-site logistics
  • Collaborate with other students organizations in the Center for Leadership and Service on community projects and networking opportunities
  • Coordinate the end-of-year LRT banquet

Operations & Outreach Committee

  • Organize the LRT/SLT Initiative, mentoring students at Coile Middle School
  • Direct members toward meaningful service projects in Athens-Clarke County
  • Manage all facets of the Case Study competition for GCLC
  • Support all team members with internal recognition and social engagement
  • Facilitate productive weekly meetings with engaging speakers and other professional development opportunities

You must be able to devote 5-7 hours per week to the Leadership Resource Team in the form of committee meetings, general body meetings, office hours, leadership development programming on campus, and service to the local community.

In addition, you MUST be available for the following:

  • A brief interview (15-minute slots available Monday-Wednesday, September 13-15, 2010)
  • The LRT retreat (Sunday, September 26, 2010)
  • Weekly Wednesday night meetings, 5:30pm-7:00pm
  • The Georgia Collegiate Leadership Conference
    • Friday, February 11, 2011, evening prep night
    • Saturday, February 12, 2011, 6:00am – 6:00p
